ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܪܐܓ ܩܫܝܫܘܬܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܛܒܐ ܪܐܓ
r'g Tb' ebd' qshyshwth' r'g 'nsh d'n mlth' hy mhymn'
This is a faithful saying: if a man seeks the office of an overseer, he desires a good work.

ܘܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܘܡܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܬܟܚ ܒܗ ܘܗܘܐ ܒܥܠܐ ܕܚܕܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܥܝܪ ܪܥܝܢܗ ܘܢܟܦ ܘܡܛܟܣ ܘܪܚܡ ܐܟܣܢܝܐ ܘܡܠܦܢ

The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching;

ܘܠܐ ܥܒܪ ܥܠ ܚܡܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܪܗܛܐ ܐܝܕܗ ܠܡܡܚܐ ܐܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܟܝܟ ܘܠܐ ܢܨܝ ܘܠܐ ܪܚܡ ܟܣܦܐ

not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;

ܘܡܕܒܪ ܒܝܬܗ ܫܦܝܪ ܘܐܚܝܕ ܒܢܘܗܝ ܒܫܘܥܒܕܐ ܒܟܠܗ ܕܟܝܘܬܐ
dkywth' bklh bshwebd' bnwhy w'khyd shpyr bythh wmdbr
one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;

ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܒܝܬܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܕܢܕܒܪ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܥܕܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܕܒܪ
dndbr d'lh' edthh mshkkh 'ykn' shpyr dndbr yde l' dnpshh byth' gyr 'n
(but if a man doesn’t know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the assembly of God?)

ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܛܠܐ ܬܘܠܡܕܗ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܪܝܡ ܘܢܦܠ ܒܕܝܢܗ ܕܣܛܢܐ
dsTn' bdynh wnpl nthrym dl' thwlmdh Tl' nhw' wl'
not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.

ܘܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܦ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܒܪܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܦܠ ܒܚܣܕܐ ܘܒܦܚܐ ܕܣܛܢܐ
dsTn' wbpkh' bkhsd' npl dl' bry' mn lh 'yth shpyrth' shdwth' d'p dyn wl'
Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.

ܘܐܦ ܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܕܟܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܡܠܠܘܢ ܬܪܬܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܨܠܝܢ ܠܚܡܪܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܪܚܡܘܢ ܝܘܬܪܢܐ ܛܢܦܐ
Tnp' ywthrn' nrkhmwn wl' sgy'' lkhmr' tslyn nhwwn wl' thrthyn nmllwn wl' dkyn nhwwn hkn' mshmshn' w'p
Servants, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for money;

ܐܠܐ ܢܐܚܕܘܢ ܐܪܙܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܒܬܐܪܬܐ ܕܟܝܬܐ
dkyth' bth'rth' dhymnwth' 'rz' n'khdwn 'l'
holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܢܬܒܩܘܢ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܢܫܡܫܘܢ ܟܕ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܪܫܝܢ
rshyn dl' 'ythyhwn kd nshmshwn whydyn lwqdm nthbqwn hlyn whnwn
Let them also first be tested; then let them serve if they are blameless.

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܢܫܐ ܢܗܘܝܢ ܢܟܦܢ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܥܝܪ ܪܥܝܢܗܝܢ ܘܢܗܘܝܢ ܡܗܝܡܢܢ ܒܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܝܢ ܐܟܠܢ ܩܪܨܐ
qrts' 'kln nhwyn wl' mdm bkl mhymnn wnhwyn reynhyn eyr wnhw' nkpn nhwyn nsh' 'p hkn'
Their wives in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

ܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܚܕܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ ܘܕܒܪ ܒܢܘܗܝ ܘܒܝܬܗ ܫܦܝܪ
shpyr wbythh bnwhy wdbr lh hwth 'nthth' dkhd' 'yn' nhwwn mshmshn'
Let servants be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܫܡܫܘ ܫܦܝܪ ܕܪܓܐ ܛܒܐ ܩܢܝܢ ܠܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܘܡܓܠܐ ܐܦܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ
mshykh' dyshwe bhymnwth' sgy'' 'p' wmgl' lnpshhwn qnyn Tb' drg' shpyr dshmshw gyr 'ylyn
For those who have served well gain for themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

ܗܠܝܢ ܟܬܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܟܕ ܡܣܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܒܥܓܠ ܐܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܘܬܟ

These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly;

ܘܐܢ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܘܚܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܬܕܥ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܠܡܬܗܦܟܘ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܬܝܗ ܥܕܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ ܥܡܘܕܐ ܘܫܬܐܣܬܐ ܕܫܪܪܐ
dshrr' wshth'sth' emwd' khy' d'lh' edth' d'ythyh d'lh' bbythh lmthhpkw wl' 'ykn' dthde 'n' dmwkhr dyn hw w'n
but if I wait long, that you may know how men ought to behave themselves in God’s house, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

ܘܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܪܒ ܗܘ ܐܪܙܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܐܬܓܠܝ ܒܒܣܪ ܘܐܙܕܕܩ ܒܪܘܚ ܘܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܡܠܐܟܐ ܘܐܬܟܪܙ ܒܝܬ ܥܡܡܐ ܘܐܬܗܝܡܢ ܒܥܠܡܐ ܘܐܣܬܠܩ ܒܫܘܒܚܐ

Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great:
God was revealed in the flesh,
justified in the spirit,
seen by angels,
preached among the nations,
believed on in the world,
and received up in glory.
